My Pre and Kyocera 6035. Never forget.
I was trying to wax philosophical about what form of government is next. But, you’re right. There’s something that comes first.
The Great Experiment is over. We had a good run. Time to start thinking about what comes next.
That is glorious. I’ve never wanted to read an entire book more.
People not getting things that seem obvious is an ongoing theme, it seems. We sat through a presentation at work by some guy who enthusiastically pitched AI to the masses. I don’t mean that’s what he did, I mean “enthusiasm” seemed to be his ONLY qualification. Aside from telling folks what buttons to press on the company’s AI app, he didn’t know SHIT. And the VP got on before and after and it was apparent that he didn’t know shit, either. Someone is whispering in these people’s ears and they’re writing fat checks, no doubt, and they haven’t a clue what an LLM is, what it is good at, nor what to be wary of. Absolutely ridiculous.
The idea that moving your finger slightly to support the smoothe functioning of traffic and the welfare of other humans is not “masculine” enough makes me want to castrate some fuckers.
“Study finds”
How about “Anyone who knows anything about anything and actually tried to get an LLM to do anything with any level of complexity”?
Yeah, sounds like sustainability is going to be an issue. I definitely could not do that with any regularity, now.
Don’t be afraid, fellow senior! Old age has its benefits.
I’m sure the benefits will kick in any time now. Any time…
A great DnD player is the perfect confluence of math nerd, obnoxious lawyer, and theater kid.
Alternate title: “The Atlantic publishes a story about MAGA that everyone with a brain knew for at least eight years.”
Welcome to the party.
To be fair, The Atlantic has been much better at addressing these issues than the rest of MSM, but still not far enough.
Bet you’re not worth $100+ million. Then you’d get it.
Back to sympathetic. I’m a sucker for domesticated pets of all kinds. Something amazing about how we’ve evolved together over millenia and having that connection to our history. And they’re fluffy and sometimes cuddly. Wouldn’t be without them.
I was sympathetic until “dogs”. Ok with cats at least? Guinea pigs? Or just any non-human animal is a pass?
Depends on if you are on a big endian or little endian architecture.
I don’t work under cars or on ladders when I’m home alone. The idea of slowly dying from a crush injury or broken back is enough to stay away. And another set of eyes saying, “That’s really fucking dumb, mate” can help keep things in perspective.
Electrical work is a place where I probably take too many liberties… So easy to stop your heart if you accidentally touch the wrong thing. But turning off the breaker is a pain.
Happens to everyone once.
But only once.
Dear future historians: You wil look back in horror but know that we feel helpless. The only parallel we have ended in a world war that had to be ended by a newly arisen superpower. And that scares the shit out of us.
