So an applicant with dangerous people in their life, maybe an abusive family member or a stalker ex, is forced to expose their accounts they would otherwise keep private. That’s the first bad-case scenario that comes to mind, I’m sure there are more.

I took a Wilderness First Aid refresher earlier this year. It was interesting how much the curriculum has stayed the same but the emphasis has changed since I took it a few years ago. There’s still the checklist to get to “should I call for evacuation or not” but where before it felt like encouraging people to call for evacuation when needed, this one felt more like “stop to think and be sure a call is really needed because too many people are tying up S&R with their InReach Mini calls for a twisted ankle”.
Also new is the full-throated support of adding Narcan to your kit, assuming a state with decent Good Samaritan laws.

Tech companies do t want us to have friend or family connections. Sad and lonely people buy more stuff.
They are information sponges. They won’t understand everything, but they will catch on to at least some things. Don’t treat them like idiots. Don’t be unfair. Don’t be arbitrary.
Because it’s fresh in mind from a personal conversation, e.g., if a parents treats one child better than the other, the other absolutely sees it and she will remember. Reactions may vary, but she sees it and will make future choices with that information in mind.

I mean, sure, if you don’t want to try any other answer to help convince them to hire you out of all the other applicants.
They’re not asking “why do you want a job” they’re asking “why do you want this job”.
As in, out of all the jobs that will pay you money, why do you want this one in particular?
There are other points during an interview process to lay out your pay expectations.
Don’t forget problems with everything around AI too. Like in the US, the Big Beautiful Bill (🤮) attempts to ban states from enforcing AI laws for ten years.
And even more broadly what happens to the people who do lose jobs to AI? Safety nets are being actively burned down. Just saying “people are scared of new tech” ignores that AI will lead to a shift that we are not prepared for and people will suffer from it. It’s way bigger than a handful of new tech tools in a vacuum.
This feels a bit like PTA-driven panic about kids eating Tide Pods when like one person did it. Or razor blades in Halloween candy. Or kids making toilet hooch with their juice boxes. Or the choking game sweeping playgrounds.
But also, man on internet with no sense of mental health … sounds almost feasible.

I’m probably in a bit of a bubble but I work with too many engineers who don’t like that they have to work with other people. If a super STEM person ever wonders how “less smart but friendly with the boss” people advance further, introspect a bit on whether anyone else can understand your big brain thoughts or if they die as soon as they leave your mouth.
Making friends and doing clubs in college is a good way to learn to be smart and to make sure you can adequately communicate your smart ideas. Goes with the theme of “don’t stress GPA, be well-rounded”.

my advice is to slow your roll and focus on transitioning to college successfully, meaning establishing good study habits (they will have to change from high school), staying healthy during the time that is often the first extended time away from parent(s) (food, sleep, hygiene, keeping the drugs/booze under control, proper response to inevitably getting sick, mental health), and finally, enjoy the experience by making friends and trying new activities.
I have never once thought about what I could have done to earn another point on my GPA. I have thought a lot about the friends I made and the things I got to experience.
Are they trying to build support among the white-collars for unionization of the blue? I can’t think of a better way to boost union support among the white-collars. I hope they get the full experience of having to piss into bottles because break times are too short.
