  • I think I might never use that phrase again!

I came in thinking someone would link some alternative porn to a lost soul, and it never even crossed my mind that they might be looking for work.

It felt attentive, and I just wanted to convene (so very poorly) that your company must be a pleasure.

  • Maybe I was just hallucinating and imagined adding extra hurdles to vehicle ownership. I think that’s what scares most people away when it comes to freeing up public space.

I am all for walkable cities with proper bike infrastructure and railed transit. But I feel it is an important distinction that we try not to make things harder on the ‘other end’, and instead concentrate on new city infrastructure being created that focuses on being friendly to everything besides convenience motorists.

So like everyone can still get a car, just make it not really worth it, in a good way. There, I solved world hunger.

  • Limiting sucks. If we try to get shit done by taking away, it’ll never happen. No limiting.

But there seems to be an interesting phenomenon in between public transit and driving. Like if you have a popular destination with shitty public transit, it’ll take a ton of time to get there by car due to congestion.

So make public transit go brrr, maybe slap some extra tax on vehicles, and see people abandon cars in favor of a working public transport by themselves, without any external limiting factors.

  • Or maybe even take a step back. Dead internet theory is real and we’re living it, but just because the main subreddits and FB are ai schlock doesn’t mean Lemmy is the only ‘real’ place.

I feel the hardest part is keeping my senses about me when I argue with hivemind mentality. You will probably get a feeling from my writing, that I too embraced the hive speak and mind. And this is where the bots get the everyperson. Bots speak in hivemind and meme format. I think this whole kerfuffle will do wonders for real online discussion, as low-effort discussions will be dismissed as white noise.

  • I do understand their point in a weird twist of copyright and marketplace spirit:

Companies lose money on consoles, so they can’t afford to sell the hardware without people paying for the software.

All in all, I don’t think it’s totally anti-consumer behaviour, but they will face the appropriate backlash in some form or the other.

As someone who grew up on Nintendo I don’t wish them ill, even though they are suffocating that part of the emulation industry. I’d rather we find the reason of the imbalance why we don’t have 80 bucks to easily shell out for a game and address why Nintendo feels it needs to sit on it’s old IP.
