I also wonder whether this could let someone sing or speak outside their normal range. When I was young I was in the school choir - after puberty hit and my voice dropped, I still had the muscle memory for high notes that my vocal cords would not allow.

Language is descriptive, not prescriptive. “AI” has come to be a specific colloquialism, and if you refuse to accept that, you’re going to cause yourself pain when communicating with people who aren’t equally pedantic as you.
That’s an insult to five-year-olds.
